Camp Sunshine is Back in Person this summer!!
Dear Friends and Family:
Many of you know that I am a volunteer for Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer. Camp Sunshine allows children with cancer to attend summer camp and just be kids. They can choose swimming, horseback riding, climbing a ropes course, boating, arts and crafts, paddleboarding, cooking, biking…and the list goes on and on.
The last two years were unlike any others before and we were only able to hold virtual camps for the kids. This year, we are back in action, with many precautions in place to keep this vulnerable population safe and able to enjoy camp.
Camp is a community of people, not a place. There is something about Camp that ignites connection and friendship and limitless acceptance. Kids with cancer come to camp and find a way to just be themselves and just be kids no matter what battle with cancer they are facing. I will be continuing my volunteering this year as a Board Member for Camp and I co-chaired the other big fundraiser for Camp back in February. Even though I won't be back in a cabin as a co-counselor until I get my own kids off to college, I am committed to continuing my personal goals for fundraising for this amazing place. Did I mention camp is completely free to all campers? As are all programs Camp Sunshine provides year-round to campers and their families.
Volunteers run a 5K at camp every year to raise money to send kids to camp. Would you consider sponsoring me? I'll be running from home, but my heart will be out at Camp and on Keencheefoonee Road where the in-person 5k takes place.
My goal is to raise $5500. Any amount you might donate towards this will be greatly appreciated. Five dollars. Twenty dollars. One hundred dollars. It all makes a difference and helps bring community to my young friends with cancer. Because camp is not just a place, it's a community and it cannot exist without a little help from friends like you.
With many thanks to you--
