Welcome to Adam's 2022 Keencheefoonee Road Race Page
Most of you know that I am a volunteer for Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer. I am part of about 400 volunteer staff of which 30% of us are former campers that make up this amazing group!!! This June, I will spend my 29th year at Camp Sunshine FINALLY back in person!!!
Camp Sunshine gives children with cancer the opportunity to just be kids. Regardless of any affects or disabilities they may have from their illnesses, they can do all of the things that you would expect at camp and more…swimming, horseback riding, climbing a ropes course, boating, arts and crafts, newspaper, computers, cooking, biking…and the list goes on and on.
Once again I part of the committee for the 18th Annual Keencheefoonee Road Race - a 2K walk and 5K run for counselors during summer camp to raise money to help to send these children to camp. “Keencheefoonee” is the name of the road where summer camp is located. The race will be held the morning of June 29th before breakfast.
Would you consider sponsoring me? My goal is to raise $5000. It costs $800 to send a single child to camp, so any amount will be greatly appreciated.
I are fortunate enough to get to attend this camp as a camper since I had childhood cancer this is one way that we enjoy giving something back. Working with these children at camp gives these children with cancer an opportunity to enjoy normal activities, but also provides them with any special needs that they may require. I hope that all of you will help me in my quest.
Some interesting stats about Camp Sunshine from 2017: 146 programs, 160 days of programming, 6,869 participants, 1,009 volunteers, 30 regional programs (outside of the greater Atlanta area), over 1,800 hospital contacts and 223 new families!
With many thanks,
Adam
