Welcome to My Fundraising Page!

How cute are those girls? Well THOSE girls are some of my awesome campers who I've been fortunate enough to meet at Camp Sunshine! Now you can put faces to the amazing campers we're sending to summer camp this year!
------
Y'all! Camp is BACK IN PERSON this year for its 40th Year! What better way to celebrate than to raise money to give campers like these the BEST SUMMER ever?! Not only did they have to weather COVID, but cancer treatments on top of that. They deserve a break!!
Children with cancer are normal kids with special needs who want to participate fully in the everyday experiences of growing up. Camp Sunshine provides kids with cancer (ages 7-18) the opportunity to enjoy these activities! Keencheefoonee is the name of the road where our summer camp is located, and every year we host a road race at camp-- the Keencheefoonee Road Race-- to support these awesome kids. I am participating in this race to raise funds to pay it forward for the opportunity I received as a child. I am lucky enough to call myself a cancer survivor and Camp Sunshine former camper. Camp Sunshine truly has become a second family to me. I have known a lot of these volunteers for most of my life!
I was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor in 1988, and I spent my first summer at Camp Sunshine in 1995. My life was forever changed afterwards. I have friends I met that same summer who I still know today. Some of them are counselors with me now! My counselors back then have now become my peers and co-counselors as well. I am lucky enough to see personally how camp gives back to campers and even the counselor volunteers. Any Camp Sunshine volunteer will tell you that our first year on staff, we expect to rock the world of a child with cancer, when in reality it's our world that's changed forever.
I hope you will consider supporting this event. My fundraising goal is $1600 (the cost of sending two children to camp), and I need your help! It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause by making your tax deductible donation online on this personal page. If you would prefer, you can give your donation to me personally before camp arrives in June.
Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress. All children should be able to go to summer camp. I hope you will consider helping me to spread the Sunshine!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Gibson
