Dear Family and Friends,

This summer, I am a volunteering with Camp Sunshine, a summer camp for children with cancer, ages 7 to 18. I first went to Camp Sunshine in 2008, just 2 months after my cancer diagnosis. I'm so glad I went because it ended up being one of the best things in my life. I attended camp for 11 years as a camper, went back as a counselor in training, and will be back to volunteer this summer.

Children with cancer are normal kids with special needs who want to participate fully in the everyday experiences of growing up. For the last 37 years, Camp Sunshine has provided kids with cancer the opportunity to enjoy activities like sports, rock climbing, kayaking and music!? This year we are going back in person after having camp virtually for the health and safety of the children with cancer the past two years. We all took a pause from normal activities to stay safe from the virus, but cancer did not. These kids face isolation due to their diagnosis, and we are committed to keep the traditions and connections going in the best virtual way we know how. This also requires the support made possible by incredible people like you.

Keencheefoonee is the name of the road where our summer camp is located. I usually get up extra early Tuesday morning during camp and will run in honor of the
incredible campers I've met over the years.
