The Keencheefoonee Road Race is Camp Sunshine’s largest annual fundraiser and is driven by our volunteers! Begun in 2001 by volunteers who were missing out on the Peachtree Road Race because they were at camp, the Keencheefoonee Road Race has grown into a robust fundraising event.

To date, the road race volunteers have raised close to $4,000,000 for Camp Sunshine to send children with cancer to summer camp. Our goal this year is to raise $350,000 which would help sponsor all the children with cancer for a week of camp! We have one week with our teen campers and a second week with our junior campers. Donations make Camp Sunshine possible - even now with the new virtual camp Sunshine 2.0! Children with cancer are isolated as it is. While we all took a pause from our daily activities to stay healthy against the virus, cancer did not pause. The kids are still diagnosed, they still had chemo and treatment, and still had to fight against cancer. Our mission this year is to continue the traditions and connections that make camp the most memorable experience for children with cancer as we have for the last 37 years.

The 5k run and 2k walk are usually held each Tuesday at summer camp. Before breakfast volunteer counselors run or walk down Keencheefoonee Road for a brisk start to their day!  This year we will have a virtual event in a different way, on a different day and will still do it in honor and support the children with cancer.

Anyone can participate in the fundraising by supporting the event with a donation online or donating to your favorite volunteer and their commitment to ensuring the best virtual summer camp experience possible. Help us celebrate the 20th Anniversary fo the Keencheefoonee Road Race in a big way!
